Welcome Message from the Minister of State (Seniors)

I am very pleased to take on the role of Minister of State (Seniors).

As a senior myself, I have a strong interest in the issues that affect older Canadians. As the voice for seniors at the federal Cabinet table, I look forward to working hard to improve the lives of Canada's seniors while continuing to recognize their vital contributions.

The definition of a senior in our society is changing. It is a diverse population and that population is growing.

Seniors play a significant role in strengthening our country and ensuring the well‑being of all Canadians. I look forward to learning about issues of importance to seniors across the country and the many contributions they make to Canada. I also look forward to working with my colleagues in other ministries, as well as with provinces, territories, and the seniors' community to continue to support seniors and seniors' issues.
